Dr. George Perry is currently working as Dean and Professor in the department of Biology and Chemistry, College of Sciences at the University of Texas at San Antonio, United States. He is also serving as Semmes Foundation Distinguished University Chair in Neurobiology. He was awarded as Fellow, Texas Academy of Science, 2016 and Lifetime Achievement Award, World Automation Congress, 2016. He has studied at many universities and holds multiple degrees including a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from the University of California Santa Barbara and a PhD in Marine Biology from the University of California at San Diego.
Dr. George Perry is an active participant in many other scientific associations. In addition, he is an Editor of numerous scientific journals including Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease which he founded in 1998. He is distinguished as one of the top Alzheimer’s disease researchers with over 1000 publications, more than 60,000 citations, one of the top 100 most-cited scientists in Neuroscience & Behavior and one of the top 25 scientists in free radical research.
Dr. George Perry’s research is centered around Neurodegeneration. In particular, Dr. Perry focuses on Alzheimer’s disease and the effects of oxidative stress on the disease as well as its effects on other neurodegenerative disorder.
